It is now known that government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sandals Resorts International (SRI) for the construction of 750-room hotel at Buccoo Estate, No Man’s Land, Tobago, on October 10, 2017.

Agriculture Minister Clarence Rambharat revealed this in the Senate on Tuesday.

Responding to a question from Opposition Senator Saddam Hosein, he said, “I thank Senator Hosein for his question and his patience in awaiting the very brief response.”

But Senate President Christine Kangaloo disallowed a follow up question by Hosein in relation to what if any concessions or tax breaks, were granted to SRI.

Meanwhile, Opposition Senator Wade Mark wanted to know if Government was prepared to submit reveal the contents of the MOU in Parliament.

In response, Rambharat said, “I will not be able to respond to that. I am not familiar with the contents and it’s a question that Senator Mark may be able to pose at a later date.”
